Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the wealthiest footballer in the world with a personal fortune of £152m.
The Portuguese star who recently showed off his Rolls-Royce, had a fantastic 2014 which culminated in him winning the Ballon d’Or.
Goal
released its annual rich list on Thursday, March 5 naming him the
richest footballer on earth with some £7m more than his rival, Lionel Messi (£145m).
According to Goal,
the Goal Rich List is a unique rundown of the footballing world’s
biggest financial hitters, charting each active player’s net worth based
on salary, endorsements and assets, as well as taking outside business
interests into consideration.
The totals of
Ronaldo and Messi, which take into account sponsorship revenue as well
as wages and bonuses, are well above that of Neymar, who comes third in the list with a fortune of £97.9m.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic of Paris Saint-Germain and Sweden is worth £76.1m, while Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney is the highest-ranked Englishman on the list in fifth on £74.6m.
Brazilian star Kaka who just signed to MLS club Orlando City, is sixth in the rankings on £69.6m, followed by Samuel Eto’o (£63.1m), Raul (£61.6m) and Ronaldinho (£60.2m).
Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is in tenth with a personal fortune of £58m.
