LASU students have said they are supporting APC guber candidate Akinwunmi Ambode because of his running mate, Adebule, an alumnus of the institution, and the performance of Governor Fashola.
Students of the Lagos State University (LASU) have thrown their weight behind Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The LASU Student Union Government President, Mr. Nurudeen Yusuf, said the decision to support Ambode was reached because of his running mate, Dr. Oluranti Adebule, an alumnus and lecturer at the institution, and the state governor, Babatunde Fashola.
Yusuf told Punch that the students are confident in Adebule's ability to represent their interests.
“Dr.
Adebule is an alumnus of the school. She had her first, second and
third degrees in LASU and that is why we endorsed them," the union
leader said.
Yusuf added that the Fashola's
performance at the helms of affairs, especially as concerns the
reduction of tuition fees at LASU, endeared them to APC.
Also,
the giant strides of Governor Babatunde Fashola in LASU, especially in
the area of infrastructure, is another reason why are endorsing the APC.
We are not divided in our cause,” he said.
“Governor Babatunde Fashola listened to our complaints by reducing the fees and that says a lot."
He said Ambode's experience will help make LASU a world class institution.
