According to the confession of a suspected armed robbery gang leader, the police officer's wife encouraged them to go for the operations so she could buy the stolen goods.
The wife of a senior police officer is currently
in the custody of men of Meiran Division in Alimosho Local Government in
connection to an armed robbery.
The suspect was
arrested for allegedly buying stolen goods from armed robbers and is now
being investigated for conspiracy and robbery along five other suspects
in Lagos.
The said woman, whom police refused to
name, was arrested by the residents of Ajasa-Command Estate, Ipaja at
the weekend and handed over to the police.
The police officer’s wife was implicated by the confession of the suspected leader of the gang, Gbenga Akinola.
Akinola
allegedly told the police that the woman encouraged them to go for
robbery operations after which she buys most of the stolen items from
them at giveaway price.
Gbenga Akinola’s confession also led to the arrest of four other suspects.
The husband of the suspect reportedly serves at Oduduwa Police Division in Ikeja, Lagos.
According to PM News, the police also recovered weapons from the suspects.
