One of the robbers that participated in the deadly armed robbery attack in
Ondo State where more than 15 people lost their lives on January 13,
2015, Etopa Sadig, has been arrested by the Edo State Police Command.
In the raid seen as one of the deadliest in the state, saw the robbers
raid several banks simultaneously in Ikare-Akoko in Akoko North-East
local government area of the state.>
While parading
Sadiq and other criminals by the state Commissioner of Police, Samuel
Adegbuyi, said that the 35-year-old suspect was arrested after a gun
battle with officers of the command following information that the
suspected robbers had fled to Ibilo in the Akoko Edo Local Government
Area of the state.
"After the Ondo robbery,
the hoodlums headed towards Ibilo in Edo State, where operatives of the
command intercepted them in a gun battle which made some of them to
flee, while Etopa Sadiq was arrested."
Weapons
recovered from the scene included seven AK47 riffles, three riot
gunners, two SMG guns, two Lar riffles, four TO6 riffles, one Scorpion
riffle, one Berretta riffle, Chief Revolver pistol, two pump action guns
and one Tasser riffle.
