The
All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Oyo State, Governor
Abiola Ajimobi, and the Social Democratic Party’s candidate, Seyi
Makinde, expressed optimism that they would win the Saturday’s
governorship election in the state.
The governor, who voted at exactly
3.10pm at ward 11, unit 20 in Oluyole Estate Extension area of Ibadan,
said having performed well in his first term in office, he would not
entertain any fear of losing while also hinging his optimism on the
victory his party recorded in the state during the March 28 presidential
and National Assembly elections.
He said, “I am expecting that within the
next 24 hours, the Independent National Electoral Commission will
declare me as the winner of the election. I will be the governor again
until 2019.
Makinde, who lamented low turnout of
voters in the state, said with free, fair and credible handling of the
election by INEC, he expected victory.
“The turnout is lower compared to what
we had on March 28. But security is better than what we had at the time.
The conduct of INEC is good enough so far. So I expect to celebrate
when result is declared,” he said.
