Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe has apologized for his behaviour during the collation of results from Nigeria’s general elections.
Orubebe interrupted proceedings at the collation centre in Abuja on Tuesday, March 31, and accused Attahiru Jega, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of being partial and tribalistic.

The former Minister, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) agent at the centre has however said that he regrets his actions.
“Election is a passionate thing and I really regret what took place this morning. I was unnecessarily pushed by Jega to get to that level. I want to apologize particularly to young Nigerians that look up to take politics as a career to say that what happened was not intended to cause them any embarrassment,” Orubebe said while speaking to journalists on Tuesday.
“To Nigerians generally, I regret my actions as even an elder in the church, and a leader, the young men expected to see a lot from me and I believe that if there was any disappointment they got from me I apologize to Nigerians and to the youths of this country,” he added.
Orubebe had accused Jega of unfairly favouring opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
