The Resident Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) in Kano, Mikaila Abdullahi is dead.
Abdullahi died in a ‘strange’ fire which engulfed his home on Friday, April 3, Premium Times reports.
His wife, Zulaiha, and two daughters, Aisha and Asmau, were also killed in the incident.
The fire is believed to have started from the family’s generator around 4am after which it spread to other areas of the house.
Mikala’s death has been confirmed by state police spokesperson, Magaji Majiya,
who reportedly said that the commissioner and his family tried to
escape from their home through a window but died in the process.
The family was later rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Hospital in the state where they were confirmed dead.
The
INEC Commissioner recently supervised the Presidential and National
Assembly elections in Kano which held on March 28 and 29.
