A family who were caught on camera apparently walking out of a restaurant without paying have been shamed on Facebook by the owners.
The branch of Burger & Lobster in Cardiff, which only recently opened, took to Facebook after a group of four people appeared to leave the restaurant without paying.
Posting a picture of the family, taken from security camera footage, they wrote that their failure to pay the bill was likely a ‘mistake’ but
asked the family if they could come and settle their debt ‘out of the goodness of their heart’.
‘To this family that walked out tonight without paying their bill, we are sure this was just a “mistake” and you completely forgot, so out of the goodness of your heart please call the restaurant tomorrow to pay the bill. Thanks,’ it read.
The post, since removed, drew hundreds of responses on the social media site, with some users commenting that they, too, had walked out of restaurants without remembering to pay out of ‘genuine error’ and ‘shaming’ the family on Facebook was ‘totally unprofessional management’.
Others whole-heartedly agreed with the restaurant’s actions.
